Grove Kids Pediatric Dentistry in Wyomissing, PA, has added in-house pediatric sedation dentistry to its patient offerings. It joins Lancaster Pediatric Dental Associates (LPDA) as the second Dynamic Growth Dental Support practice to offer sedation services to children. The move allows Grove Kids to provide more complex treatment to pediatric patients and expands the range of anesthesia options for parents to select from when bringing their children to the practice for dental treatment.
Growth of Sedation Use in Pediatric Dentistry
Use of sedation dentistry in pediatric dentistry, ranging from mild sedation such as nitrous oxide up to general anesthesia, has seen a growth in recent years. Grove Kids has expanded its sedation options to ensure that dentists and parents can select the best treatment course depending on the unique background and needs of the child. Dental professionals have long known the short-term benefits of sedation benefits for families, including:
Additionally, recent research indicates that some sedation forms can also provide long-term benefits for the behavior of children in dental offices. For example, results show that children who received moderate sedation during surgical-restorative dental treatment behaved more positively during follow-up sessions than those patients who did not receive sedation. In short, future child behavior in the dental office often improves thanks to sedation.
Sedation Another Example of Grove Dental’s Commitment to Quality and Convenience
The addition expands the full range of pediatric dental services already offered by Grove Kids, including dental exams, cleanings, sealants, restorative treatments, emergency dental care, fluoride treatments, and orthodontics. The new facility, opened in November 2021, allows Grove Dental Group to fulfill its vision of offering quality and convenient dental care for the entire family, with pediatric dentistry, general and cosmetic dentistry, and orthodontics all under one umbrella.
“At Grove Kids Pediatric Dentistry, we are excited to now offer in-house sedation. Sedation will allow us to provide more complex treatment to our patients safely and effectively. I believe that this new addition to our practice will help us provide the best possible care for our patients.”
The addition of sedation dentistry comes just months after the grand opening of the 10 operating chair facility, intended to provide a more child-centric experience to patients. Dr. Muzamil Gufran, who completed his DDS from The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and his two-year pediatric dental residency at The University at Buffalo, leads the new practice.
“It’s so important that the children feel welcome, and they feel the experience is truly catered to them,” relayed Dr. Gufran. We want to give that experience to the children while providing top-of-the-line pediatric dental care.”. He noted that like all Dynamic Growth Dental Support practices, Grove Kids is committed to offering the best technology and a comfortable environment for all patients. That technology and environment now include sedation dentistry.
